Hoisin Mushrooms and Tangy Tofu

This is one of the simplest recipes I’ve ever made! No, really, it’s a bit of a cheat recipe – it takes mere minutes to make, and it’s yummy and comforting.

Ingredients:

Tofu, firm
Kecap manis (Sweet Soy Sauce – you’ll find it in the World Foods aisle)
5 tbsp Hoisin Sauce
½ Hot chilli pepper
½ Onion
1 punnet button mushrooms
1 packet wholewheat noodles

Preparation:

Boil noodles following packet instructions, then set aside.

Cut Tofu into thick strips and fry on both sides ’til browned and a crispy.

Fry mushrooms with finely chopped onion and chilli pepper until the onion is caramelised. Stir in Hoisin Sauce.

Serve with mushrooms on top, noodles and Tofu strips to the side, and a drizzle of Kecap Manis to finish!
