Summer holidays are here! Whether you’re jetting off somewhere hot, heading down to the beach, or just chilling out in the garden, it’s the perfect time for some much-needed rest and relaxation.
But time off from work or school doesn’t need to mean time off from working towards your goals. If you’re spending some time away from the studio or the gym, you can still get a great workout session in wherever you are… just using your body weight!
“Having weights and equipment is great, but anyone can get a top holiday workout in with minimal gear,” says Damo. “Whether you’re training for strength, endurance, cardio, weight loss, or something sport-specific, you can maintain and even advance your progress using body weight exercises – also known as calisthenics.”
“If you need to train your upper body, nothing beats Press Ups, Pike Press Ups, Tricep Dips, and Plank Walk-Outs. For lower body, try Squats, Lunges, and Wall-Sits. Don’t forget to carve out that core, with Sit Ups, Crunches, Leg Raises, and Plank.”
“If cardio’s your thing, you can’t go wrong with Burpees, Squat Jumps, High Knees, and Mountain Climbers. If you have the space, going for a Run is also simple and effective – bonus points if it’s on a beach!”
Remember, if you’re on holiday or travelling for work and can’t get to the studio or gym, there’s always something you can do to maintain your fitness levels.
